3 levels of corrosion prevention

  • Prevention: Warm frame construction
  • Protection:  Steel is galvanized with zinc (Z275). Predicted life expectancy is to be more than 250 years
  • Sacrificial layer: Zinc galvanizing will corrode before the main steel structure

Reduced carbon footprint

  • Considerable reduction in onsite waste material, and up to 20% reduction in embodied carbon in building fabric.
  • Steel is wholly recyclable

Weather resilience

  • Installation unaffected by weather
  • Properties of steel unaffected when wet unlike timber or masonry
  • LGSF structure can be made weatherproof very quickly

  • Optimum building performance with LGSF construction
  • 30% project programme efficiency resulting in a reduction of site resources
  •  LGSF construction provides a simple foundation solution, therefore, less material-intensive

  • Offsite manufacture enables quicker site installation
  • Removes external envelope from the critical path
  • Reduces trade numbers on site
  • Reduces interface issues

Approximately 20% cost saving when all of the following is considered:

  • Structural frame
  • External envelope fill
  • Internal wall studs
  • Quicker return on investment

  • Steel does not shrink, warp or change shape
  • There are no differential settlement issues using LGSF structures
  • Design life for steel frame in a warm environment is in excess of 250 years
  • LGSF construction can be used for walls, floors, roofs, suspended ground floors

  • Steel is non-combustible
  • LGSF structure does not add to fire load
  • Steel maintains its 50% strength at 500 degrees

  • Can be installed in restricted working conditions
  • Not dependant on cranes
  • Does not require a highly skilled labour force to install
  • Simplifies foundations

  • Council of mortgage lenders recognise LGSF as a construction technology to build homes.
  • LGSF is considered a Modern Method of Construction that is wholly encouraged by the government to build new homes.
